Types And Utilities Of Vehicle Storage Lifts In Automotive Garages

Vehicle Storage Lifts have been one of the most feasible solutions which enable the owners to optimize their parking space while ensuring full safety. Be it in the retail stores, shopping malls, multiplexes, or even in residential apartments, these car storage elevators seem to offer an optimal vehicle parking solution. However, it is automotive repairing industries and garages that seem to have been benefited with this specialized technology. In garages, with the help of these storage elevators, the technicians can now easily and safely repair the car's underneath. These elevators enable the technicians to safely buoy the vehicle off the ground and diagnose the problems more efficiently. These state-of-the-art technologies thus increase the productivity in garages. A standard vehicle elevating machine can withstand a load of as much as 25,000 pounds. These machines come in a plethora of designs and are capable of storing different kinds of vehicles - from the small family cars to a mammoth SUV.

In automotive garages, the vehicle storage elevators boost the productivity by enabling the technicians to carry out their repair jobs for accurately. This is one of the main factors that make these machines one of the choicest options in the car repairing centers. The technicians can take the vehicle off the ground without any hassle or risk and can even adjust the height level as per their need. The mechanics can now carry out the job more comfortably while being in his natural position.

Some of the most common types of vehicle storage lifts that are commonly used in the garages are In-ground car elevators, Parallelograms and scissor car elevators, Two-post surface mounted elevators, Four-post surface mounted elevators and Wheel-engaging mobile lifts.

• In-ground car elevators - These automotive elevators are placed underground and have one or multiple pistons to pull the automobile off the ground. Since it is placed in the underground, it offers more floor space.

• Parallelograms and scissor car elevators - Mostly used to elevate heavier vehicles, these types can easily move a vehicle up, down, towards the front or at the back. The scissor lifts can vertically move the vehicle.

• Two-post surface mounted elevators - This specific type can raise a wide range of vehicles, yet they do not take up too much space.

• Four-post surface mounted elevators - These are almost similar to Two-post surface mounted ones and have a convenient drive-on feature enabling easier muffler repairs and oil changes.

• Wheel-engaging mobile lifts - Wheel-engaging mobile types are suited for the huge vehicles such as buses and feature mobile lifting columns.

There are some operational safety measures which need to be followed while using Vehicle Storage Elevators. In garages, the automobile mechanics need to be fully trained to understand the functionalities of these machinery. This is necessary for effective operations as well as for minimizing the chances of damage on the vehicle's exterior. The garage owners should always seek to buy high-quality vehicle elevators from reputed manufacturers. The machines should comply with highest quality standards and must be periodically inspected for safety to prevent recurring failure.

A Closer Look at the 2013 Ford C-MAX

An all new crossover SUV or multi-purpose vehicle enters the Ford line up this year. The C-MAX, a model that has been sold in Europe for several years, will be sold in the United States and Canada beginning this fall. Based on the platform underpinning the all-new Ford Escape, the Ford C-MAX will be offered as a hybrid only, sold as a conventional and plug-in hybrid editions.

Price Check

The standard C-MAX Hybrid will retail from $25,995, about $1,300 less than the competing Toyota Prius V. Its estimated fuel economy is 47 mpg, beating out the Prius V by 3 mpg. Expect Ford and Toyota to battle heavily for customers in this hybrid niche.

Ford powers the C-MAX with a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that runs on the efficient Atkinson cycle and pairs it with a continuously variable transmission. This model also features a lithium-ion battery that is smaller and lighter than the previous generation nickel-metal-hydride batteries used in previous Ford hybrid models. The C-MAX makes use of regenerative braking to harness electricity and store it for later use.

Ford is building the C-MAX at its Wayne Michigan Assembly Plant. Another model, the C-MAX Energi, will also be released, the latter a plug-in variety that will yield even greater fuel efficiency.

Economy Aids

The C-MAX allows drivers to benefit from SmartGauge with EcoGuide, a feature that offers real-time information that allows drivers to enjoy improved fuel efficiency. SmartGauge "teaches" drivers how to best maximize fuel economy, by displaying what driver actions help fuel economy and which ones hurt it.

The five-passenger C-MAX is equipped with seven airbags including a driver's knee air bag. This vehicle features an advanced roll stability control system and offers SYNC with MyFord Touch, a voice-activated telematics system that controls the cell phone, navigation, climate and entertainment functions.

What Is a Bearing?

A bearing is a mechanical device that helps in maintaining the moving section of an engine. The main function of a bearing is to confine an engine's motion while putting off the movement in an applied weight. The objective of this tool is to lessen the friction with a bare minimum of energy loss to simultaneously control the wearing and tearing of the engine or machine. Bearings are produced to support the thrust loads, radial loads, and or combined thrust-radial loads.

The two most popular forms of this tool are linear and rotary bearings. Linear bearing is used to allow movement in a straight direction. Say for example, your cabinet drawer is making use of this tool to assists the pulling of drawer in back and forth motion. Meanwhile, rotary bearing helps in moving around an object in a central spot. Like for example, wheel on a shaft rotates using this tool. Rotary bearings may include swinging and rotation in one direction.

Through swinging, this tool goes through a section of rotation. Other form of bearings uses different principle of motion depending on the design. A tool that uses a rolling element is called ball bearings and roller bearings. This rolling element carry load through placing a spherical element between two parts. This makes the spherical elements to tumble or roll with a slight sliding.

A fluid bearing is another common type of tool used. This tool functions by carrying a load either in a gas or liquid form. This tool is used when a procedure requires high precision loads and speeds because an actual ball bearing will quickly wear out if used in this application.

A magnetic bearing is used when a weight is carried by means of a magnetic field. It is often used in electrical meter to determine power consumption. It is also used to support a train which results in a lesser noise and smoother ride. This tool offers an extremely low friction and can perform work even without using lubrication. It can also function with vacuum but it is very expensive.

A flexure bearing is used if the weight element needs to turn. Usually, this tool is considered as a section that combines two other sections. An example of this tool is a door hinge. This tool is inexpensive and simple. It is also lightweight and creates little amount of resistance. The scope of movement is also limited and it cannot support a higher load.

A bearing is designed in a way that it can offer lesser friction and to support different types of loads. It also helps in providing precise engine or machine performance with varying speeds and loads.

Electronic Control Module Data For Heavy Trucks

Nowadays, all the contemporary heavy truck engines are equipped with an Electronic Control Module. The basic function that an Electronic Control Module performs is to control and uphold the engine's overall performance, emissions and fuel efficiency. It also protects the engine from any kind of abuse and monitors the entire functioning of the vehicle. If the truck gets damaged due to an accident, the ECM records important data that is useful in evaluating the cause of accident. Professional engineers have the right amount of knowledge and experience to use the ECM data for the analysis of truck's accident.

A truck's Electronic Control Module records data after considering several important things such as: the engine manufacturer and the truck model. The kind of information recorded varies by manufacturer, however typical information linked with these events include: vehicle speed, percent throttle, Engine RPM, Cruise on/off and brake application. Your truck's ECM device not only records hard-brake data but also stores vehicle operational data. This vehicle operational data is around an engine fault code that usually comes up during an accident.

Other types of data saved within an ECM can be helpful for accident analysis. For instance, the engine configuration data, even though not exclusively related to the accident, can offer helpful data regarding the truck during the time of the mishap. This data can also comprise in truck's maximum speed, axle ratios, and engine horsepower and programmed transmission. Imaging and extracting of the Electronic Control Module data from trucks requires equipment and freeware specific to the engine manufacturer. Every ECM has certain specific features that may induce a data loss. Therefore, all these features should be properly considered during the entire extraction process.

On your part, you need to make sure that you call up the best engineers in the city to go through your truck's ECM data. Only specially trained engineers can do this work efficiently. So, you should not take any risk. I would like to tell you that ECM data can be really useful in the evaluation and re-enactment of a truck accident. However, you need to remember that physical evidence is equally significant, and depending only on the data provided by the ECM can lead to incorrect conclusions.

While evaluating the information given on the ECM, the engineer must answer a few critical questions:
Was the information really recorded during the mishap?
Is the information dependable?

In order to answer all these queries, the ECM data must be properly reviewed in conjunction with all the physical evidence available. So, we can easily say that ECM data plays an important role in the field of accident analysis. It can be easily regarded as the truck's "black box". Therefore, it is better to use good quality electronic control modules in your heavy duty trucks. You need to consider some popular brands in this regard. The ECMs offered by the company Cummins are quite good. Cummins ECMs are used everywhere around the world and they are regarded as one of the best in the business.

Electronic Control Module Data for heavy trucks helps in the reconstruction of the accident and due to this several mistakes are rectified. Another important thing that you need to remember is that only a professional engineer can handle the ECM data in the best possible way. Therefore, you should appoint an experienced and trained professional for this job. You should never compromise on the quality of services offered by these professionals. So, this was some of the related information regarding an electronic control module. You need to employ a good quality and branded ECM in your truck if you want to enhance its overall performance.

Range Rover Evoque Car Review

First of all, let us admit that this is the most profound Land Rover vehicle ever since Charles Spencer King installed a Chrysler V8 engine into the very first Range Rover car. Preceding models may have been the most powerful marques under the Jaguar - sourced V8 engine but this Popstar come footballer's wife design has not fallen short of epic in manifesting an engineer's passion. It may be devoid of the former 'manly' attributes typical of Range Rovers, but in a dynamic world no surprise is surprising enough. It may not be a wonder if Tyra Banks designs the next Jeep Commander to command whatever it commands in a four-cylinder 2.0 engine.

The engine

Being not a twin but single turbo, one might be inclined to think problems of eliminating lag without resorting to an anti-lag system (ALS) arise. You would be very wrong to think so. The Si4 petrol engine is an alluminium lightweight unit that is so quiet that you might forget there is an engine up front. Direct injection may be a long forgotten term or totally new to the younger generation who hadn't the chance to drive a directly injected truck with a tougher-than-life steering wheel, but this tremendous SUV doesn't shy away from going back in time. It uses the latest direct injection and advanced turbocharging resulting to an authoritative pulling power coupled with clean and smooth response. From as low as 1200 rpm, it delivers impressive torque and at high speeds the power can hit 190 bhp if you could stand that. There is also a twin independent variable valve timing that allows economy when the driver is circumspect with the pedal and haste when he turns lead-footed. With the economy of a three-cylinder, the growl of a five-cylinder and torque commensurate with a V8, this car truly has the best combination synonymous with motoring preferences.

Performance

Range Rover's TDV8 engine now available in the Vogue and Sport models may have won the Automotive Engine of the Year Award but it would find it so hard beating the Evoque's torque that if at all it did it wouldn't try again. Actually with the pedal to the floor figures in the windows could not move faster if you were in a low-flying aircraft. Power has a dead stop somewhere, but torque hasn't. Infact at speeds exceeding 200kph the flourish of the trumpets start to fade. It delivers 336 lb ft of torque and a top speed of 140 mph or 225 kph. Powerful engines are characterized by low rpm's at high speeds, and at 95km/h the revolutions are astoundingly low at 1600 per minute, which is arguably the most economical state of this car.

The suspension

This is surely the best take on this car - the dampers in question here are none but magneto-rheological ones where suspension stiffness varies in real time. This is determined by the prevailing conditions and is controlled by an electric current together with billions of iron filings in the shock absorber fluid. You may not come across this kind of technology everyday and perhaps its your first time, but this is how it works: when the current is off especially on steady surfaces the little metals float about giving a comfortable and supple feeling. During sharp cornering, an electrical current runs along the metal casing of the shock absorbers causing the filings to bunch up together and stiffen the suspension, thus improving handling by eliminating body roll. You don't need to drive the exquisite Audi R8 to experience such a feeling.

Handling

Other Range Rovers will have five road pre-determined conditions ranging from snow to off - road and though the Evoque hasn't such, it has got style of its own. Find a road winding like a puff adder's back and neither the steering nor the suspension nor the tyres will give in - absolutely remarkable! You will also be impressed that steering at 50mph yields no understeer, tyre squeal or body roll. The engine is also so quiet that pedestrians may have to look back not because they heard the engine purr but because they heard you speaking to the passengers!

Criticism

This may be the most composed mini SUV, but it gets really uncomfortable at speeds superceding 130mph. The tapering roofline robs rear passengers of headroom as well as rear viewing due to the small size of the rear window. The window shoulder line is a bit high, and first time in the car yields some hineous feeling that requires some getting used to. The massive side mirrors may also create huge blind spots especially at junctions, thus necessitating the use of the blind spot information system (BLIS). The looks also negate a feminine outlook that embarasses Range Rover's masculinity legacy, leaving one to wonder if the pretext is attributed to the designer. I wonder what we will be saying when Kim Kardashian designs an Hummer H4 that can't be differentiated from a Suzuki jimny.

How To Install a Sway Bar Disconnect

Many people buy Jeep Wranglers for their great off-road abilities. Wranglers are great off-road vehicles off the lot, but to make them even better a lot of people make a range of Jeep modifications. One of the most popular mods is the installation of a sway bar disconnect system.

People who like to take their Jeep Wranglers out on off-road adventures need their suspensions to be a little looser. There are several ways to make a suspension looser, but one of the easiest is to release the sway bar underneath the Jeep when needed. Releasing the bar will allow the suspension to travel further. This extra travel that is created by this Jeep modification will allow the vehicle to maneuver over rough terrain in a smoother and safer manner.

Sway bar disconnect kits are available from most places that specialize in Jeep modifications. They are also a very easy to install for people who know their way around and under the body of a Jeep.

The first step in the process of this particular Jeep modification is to remove the factory sway bar link. In order to do this the bolt at the top of the sway will need to be removed. The next step will be to unbolt and remove the bottom of the sway bar link. Once that link is removed the next step will be to pull down on the boot and remove the top.

After the factory sway bar link has been removed the next step will be to bolt the sway bar link top using the tools that come with most sway bar disconnect kits for Jeep Wranglers. Once that is completed the next step will be to install the bottom sway bar mount.

Now the top of the disconnect will be mounted. Once this has been completed the next step will be to find a good location for the bottom of the disconnect. It is a good idea to find a place that will be out of the way when the sway bar is disconnected. After the place has been decided on a hole will need to be drilled and threaded. Once the threading is completed a bolt can then be installed. The final step in this Jeep modification will be to grease up the grease fitting and insert the lower pin.

With the disconnect system installed properly the Jeep Wrangler owner will now be able to easily disconnect the bar when they hit the trails and reconnect it when they head back on the highway. Keep in mind that driving around town without a sway bar properly connected can be very dangerous.

As most Wrangler owners know, a simple Jeep modification to their vehicle is a lot of fun, but at the end of the day all the work needs to be done properly. People who have never worked on a car before may want to take their Jeep to a local mechanic who specializes in installation of Jeep replacement parts. Or the other option is to have a buddy who is more schooled in Jeep repairs help out and explain how it is done.

Four Wheel Drive Recoveries Without the Risk

The number of people that I have seen in the last few years recovering a four wheel drive in a manner that is unsafe is astounding. Recovering a four wheel drive incorrectly has resulted in a substantial number of deaths and serious injuries. Unfortunately education for recovering four wheel drives correctly isn't enforced enough! The most risk in four wheel drive recoveries is when a second vehicle is involved. If you are using a snatch strap or winch, you need to take extra precautions to ensure that people stay safe! A broken snatch strap or winch cable has the potential to kill someone, and yet people are blasé so regularly.

Snatch straps and winch cables hold a significant amount of energy, and if they break all of that energy is released at once. A snatch strap will easily fly from one vehicle to the next in under a second, and there is no way you can get out of the way. As a general rule, everyone except both drivers in a recovery needs to be at least 20 metres away. This ensures that even if the strap or cable does break, no one is in range of the deadly missile. Secondly, make sure that dampeners are used. Two are ideal, and make sure that they aren't very heavy. A towel works extremely well. These are designed to stop the cable or strap from flying in the event that they snap.

Thirdly, make sure that you remove any dirt possible before trying to recover another four wheel drive. By spending 5 minutes on the shovel you can reduce a massive amount of stress put on the recovery. I suggest that no shackles are used in a recovery (where possible) as they are heavy weights that cause a lot of damage when something goes wrong. Don't ever use a tow ball to recover off. Tow balls are designed for towing trailers, and they are not designed for shock force, which is exactly what you do when you pull hard on it. There have been a number of tow balls snap in recent years resulting in serious injuries. I have seen them literally go through a tire; what do you think they are going to do if you are standing in the way?

The last piece of advice I can give is to take your time, think about the risks and consequences and make decisions that are going to get you unstuck, without injuring anyone or doing damage to your vehicles!

Out of All the SUV Models of 2012, Which One Is the Best?

There is no point in picking out the best SUV model of 2012, because the "best" depends on the customer. Since every driver has different needs and preferences, what the "best" is for one person may not be the "best" for another.

The price is the biggest consideration of most people when deciding on which car is the best for them. But price should be coupled with reliability. It's unreasonable to buy a cheap one that will only break down in a few years. There are known brands and models that offer efficiency at a good price. Today, it is important to go after fuel-efficient and safety-feature packed cars.

One of the most reliable gauges when choosing an SUV or any vehicle is the mileage. In fact, the mileage indicates whether the car becomes economical in the long run. There are several models that come to mind when high mileage is concerned. One is the Lexus RX450h, which has a mileage of 32 mpg. Aside from considerable good distance, it also has luxury features, which means that it's not your inexpensive option. The Ford Escape Hybrid runs with a 31 mpg mileage.

Not everyone wants a good distance, though. Some people prefer other things, like the size. Many people like mid-size cars, like the Buick Enclave, which runs with 24 mpg along highways. There are other cars with better maneuverability. Other vehicles considered to be one of the best SUV models of 2012 is the Mazda CX-9. It has approximately the same mileage as the Buick Enclave. Drivers say that the most notable feature of the Mazda CX-9 is its cargo room.

The best choice may be an SUV with both value and efficiency. One of the SUVs that come to mind is the 2012 Kia Sportage. Kia has been dubbed as the twin of Toyota, which is known as the leader in design and fuel economy. Kia matches what Toyota can offer at a lower price. Hence, people after savings should consider Kia. The Kia Sportage runs in the city with a mileage of 22 mpg, and along highways with a mileage of 29 mpg. Its towing power has been boosted by its turbo charge.

Another SUV that rings bells when it comes to value is the Subaru Outback, whose 2012 version comes at a very friendly price. The 2012 Subaru Outback comes with great savings for its class. The 21/27 mpg rating comes with an improved interior.

The 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan cannot be ignored as well, due to its remarkable design and space. The Volkswagen Tiguan is a strong contender of Kia and Subaru, although it lacks the power of the other two. Volkswagen offers safety features, but what makes it more notable is its maintenance-free reputation. While its mileage is not its most noteworthy characteristic, its sturdiness probably is.

The final decision is yours to make. There are other vehicles not mentioned in this article that are formidable contenders. However, keep in mind that there is no perfect SUV. Others may reign in mileage, while others reign in safety features. Some are the fastest, and some flaunt stability.

No matter what this article says, the best judge would be you. After all, you will be the owner of the vehicle, and no one else. So, if a certain automobile doesn't feel good during the test drive alone, then it's probably not the right one for you.

Why You Should Consider Choosing a Diesel Engine Vehicle

While choosing what vehicle to buy, you may opt to buy one that with diesel engine. Unlike in the old days when they were considered to be for very powerful machines, the diesel engines are coming into use these days and some motorist will opt for them than the petrol engine.

With the current technology, the shortcomings of the noisy, smelly old diesel engine have been reduced and it has become more users friendly. Like in the gasoline powered cars and SUVs, diesel powered vehicles are fully equipped with modern safety features like safety locks, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and stability.

Diesel engines used to be considered as best suited for crude manual transmissions; they have now been modernized to be used for the normal street car. The transmissions have also been automated and have greater speed and improved fuel efficiency without losing the convenience of an automatic touch.

The larger vehicles with a larger passenger capacity like the SUV work best with the diesel engine since they are heavier. The devices are better suited for heavy tasks than the petrol engines.

The diesel engine burns less fuel than petrol engine while performing the same task, due to the engines higher temperature of combustion and greater expansion ratio. They have low voltage electrical ignition system, resulting in high reliability and easily adaptable to damp environments. The life of these engines is about twice as long as that of the petrol engine due to the enhanced strengths of the parts used. The diesel fuel has better lubrication properties than petrol which contribute to the good state of the engine.

Diesel is also considered safer than petrol. While petrol will create flammable vapor in the open and easily explode, diesel fuel will only burn in the open air using a wick and does not explode. Having this engine is therefore safer for your vehicle; it's less likely to explode in case it's involved in an accident.

The diesel fuel engines generate less heat in cooling and exhaust. The content of the carbon monoxide in the exhaust fumes is minimal, reducing carbon monoxide poisoning chances to the motorist and the other people who may inhale. Since the diesel engine combustion is higher, there are more exhaust fumes coming out of the exhaust. Getting the best exhaust systems for your vehicle will enhance the emission of the exhaust fumes form the engine and hence improved performance.

There are suppliers like magnaflow who specialize with diesel exhaust systems for vehicles like the Dodge, Chevrolet and the Ford. Getting these engines is not only safe but gets the best performance from your vehicle.

Save a Friend With Jeep Winches

Strangers to the Jeep culture often wonder why they see Jeep winches attached to Wranglers, CJs and Cherokees. Most people think they are just for show, but the fact is that winches are a very important tool for people who love to trail ride or rock climb.

Of course the main goal for a day trip is to not get stuck, but naturally Jeep lovers tend to push the envelope. This envelope pushing often leads to people getting stuck in places that they don't want to get stuck. If another friend has Jeep recovery gears they can easily get the stranded Jeep safely to better ground.

People looking for a manufacturer of great Jeep winches should look at the line-up of Rugged Ridge winches. These are some of the most durable and useful winches sold on the market today. A great winch is the Heavy Duty 10500 pound winch that comes with a steel cable. This is one of the most affordable Jeep recovery products on the market.

The 10500 by Rugged Ridge is better built than any other winch in its price range. It comes with a powerful 6.6 horsepower motor which is capable of pulling up to 10,500 pounds. It is built with all stainless steel hardware ensuring that it will not succumb to tough environmental elements most Jeep owners put their vehicles through. This model is available with either a synthetic rope or a steel cable depending on the user's needs.

Rugged Ridge also makes a smaller 8500 winch that has a smaller 5.5 horsepower engine. For the most part the two products are the same; the only real difference is the fact that the smaller of the two can only handle about 8,500 pounds of weight. For people who are only pulling people out of ditches or quarries this winch is plenty strong. This model comes a durable all-weather cable remote that is 12 feet long which allows the user to stand clear as the utilize the winch.

When purchasing any of the Rugged Ridge Jeep winches it is also important to purchase the proper accessories that are need to help protect the wince from the elements and also to make sure nothing is missing when the winch is actually needed to save the day. This is why we recommend getting a winch cover and extra winch rope or steel cable and a full array of d-rings and other fasteners.

Most of Jeep winches are easy to mount to most vehicles, but it will be important to either get a bumper kit with a winch mount or to buy a separate winch mount for the particular Jeep bumper configuration.

Transform Your Jeep Cherokee

There are a lot of people out there who want to know what Jeep Cherokee parts are essential when transforming the vehicle from an everyday commuter to an off-road superstar. Below is a definitive guide to what things a person will need to completely change their Jeep.

Body Armor

One of the first Jeep Cherokee accessories a person will need when transforming their vehicle will be to equip it with some body armor. They will want to make sure they get guards for their tail-lights to protect them from stray branches and big rocks. They will also want to equip their vehicles metal side plates to help protect the body of the Jeep from getting damaged when traversing through rough terrains.

Bumpers and Guards

People who plan on spending a lot of time riding off-road will want to replace the stock Jeep bumpers with more sturdy bumpers and guards to help protect the body as well as the engine from seriously rough outings. Some of these Jeep Cherokee bumpers and guards are designed to keep mud and snow from clogging up the front grill. If the owner plans on attaching a winch to the Jeep then they will want to look for a front bumper that has pre-drilled holes for easy winch mounting.

Safari Bars

There are a lot of people who think that safari bars are just used by people who want to look cool, but the fact of the matter is that Safari bars serve more than aesthetic purpose. Safari bars are a must have Jeep Cherokee part for any serious trail rider because they allow the driver to easily see his or her surrounding environment. No need to stick their head out a window to see what they are sitting over. With Jeep safari bars all they have to do is look down to see what sort of situation they have gotten themselves into.

Snorkel

Another important Jeep Cherokee accessory to have is a snorkel. Some people think snorkels are over kill, but at the end of the day they can help make a good trip even better. Snorkels can easily be attached to the Cherokee and can save the owner the headache of flooding the engine in the middle of a stream. Drivers with snorkels know that there is nowhere they cannot go.

Seat Belts

Jeep Cherokees come with adequate seat belts for people who spend their time on a daily commute or running their everyday errands, but these types of seatbelts are not good for people who are trying to transform their vehicles to off-road superstars.

People looking to spend a lot of time in the outback will want to install 3 point harness. These types of Jeep Cherokee parts are comfortable enough to be used on a regular road, but can be adjusted to act like a 4 point harness when trail riding to keep the driver safe and sound inside the vehicle.

Popular 8 Passenger SUVs in the Market

In the late 1990s, a new breed of vehicles came to invade the market. These were specifically aimed at large families. Until now, these cars are still popular, because they offer space that smaller ones cannot provide. SUVs only seat five people with their second row seating, but additional space allows for two or three more passengers. These vehicles provide an option for those who do not like to purchase minivans.

There are only few 8-passenger SUV manufacturers, but you can start choosing among affordable 8-passenger automobiles. As you go up the price ladder, you will see luxury SUVs. All of them are big, though. The good ones bear fuel efficient engines. Big ones also have enough space for your cargo; a big family surely will have a huge load when traveling. The best 8 passenger SUV is one that has excellent fuel efficiency, performance, mileage, and passenger friendly features. Of course, that big one will come at a big price as well.

Anyway, here are some of the popular 8-seater SUVs.

Honda Pilot

The 2011 Honda Pilot may be the most inexpensive in the market of all of these kinds of vehicles. The positive attributes of the Pilot is that it is an all-around performer, just like any Honda automobile. Of course, since it is an 8-passenger vehicle, it offers a lot of space. Then, the ergonomic design is there to ensure a comfortable and nice travel experience. The caveat is that it is not the most powerful in the league of 8-passenger SUVs. The fuel efficiency is also not something that you can boast. At 23 mpg along the highway, it lags behind the competition in terms of mileage.

Chevrolet Traverse

People who have are very interest in the car industry definitely cannot ignore the Chevrolet Traverse, which has its own pros and cons, just like everything else has. This is also one of the most inexpensive in its niche, but it has fairly good MSRP. It has also been reported to have great fuel economy and fairly good mileage at 24 mpg along highways. This vehicle is powered by its 3.6-liter V-6 engine that bestows 281 hp. There is no need to mention that it offers comfort to passengers. All cars should!

GMC Acadia 2012

This one should be part of your list. It has a similar platform as the Chevrolet Traverse, but the Acadia is more expensive. The higher cost is due to the added luxury features and more comfortable experience. Both the Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse have the same engine, but the former offers a little more horsepower and torque. The mileage is also the same; so basically, you are paying for the added luxury.

Nissan Armada

The Nissan Armada cannot be taken for granted by those looking for big SUVs. Aside from being big, it's also powerful. Armada is not the most expensive one with 8 seats in the market, but it's not within the cheap bracket either. The 5.6-liter V-8 engine gives 317 hp, but this engine has fuel efficiency that lags behind the competition. The low mileage at 19 mpg along the highway is at the lower end of the spectrum.

Ford Expedition EL

The 2012 Expedition EL replaces the long gone Excursion. The 8-passenger Expedition EL is 15 inches longer than the regular Expedition, and this extra length means extra room for more people. But when the seats are not in use, they can be folded. Like many 8-seaters, this one has average mileage.

Technical History of the Ford Escape

The Ford Escape is a compact five-passenger sport utility vehicle introduced for the 2001 model year and a direct competitor to the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V. This model is sold in front- and all-wheel-drive configurations, and is one of the most popular vehicles in the Ford stable. The 2013 edition is all-new, a vehicle that builds on the history of this popular SUV.

Escape Debut

When introduced, the 2001 Ford Escape offered a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine as standard equipment. That engine was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and made 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway. Optionally, a 3.0-liter V-6 engine was offered, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and delivering 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway. Those numbers would be considered poor today compared to what compact SUVs can get.

Refreshed Escape

The first generation Ford Escape was produced for 12 model years ending in 2012. This is uncommonly long for any vehicle, but Ford refreshed the Escape in 2008 to give it a new exterior and a new interior. The mechanicals remained the same, but the base engine was now a 2.3-liter four paired with a 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission. This car delivered 22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway or about average for the segment. Optionally, the same 3.0-liter V-6 engine was still available, now delivering 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

By the end of the first generation, a 2.5-liter four cylinder engine was offered, delivering 23 mpg city, 28 mpg highway. Ford paired this model with a 5-speed manual or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The V-6 engine was also available and paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This model delivers 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway.

Escape Hybrid

Ford's initial foray into powertrain hybridization began in 2006 when an Escape Hybrid model was introduced. This vehicle was produced through 2012 before it was discontinued and replaced by the Ford C-MAX.

The Escape Hybrid was powered by a 2.5-liter four cylinder engine operating on the Atkinson cycle. Paired with a continuously variable transmission, a battery-powered electric motor also provides energy to turn the wheels. A nickel-metal hydride battery pack stored energy. This model delivered 34 mpg city, 31 mpg highway for best-in-class fuel economy.

Second Generation

An all-new Ford Escape has made its debut for the 2013 model year. This vehicle offers three four cylinder engine choices. Standard is a 2.5-liter four that makes 168 horsepower. Also available are a pair of EcoBoost engines, a design that brings in direct fuel injection with turbochargers. A 1.6-liter engine makes 178 horsepower and a 2.0-liter engine makes 240 horsepower. Each engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Gone are both the V-6 gas engine and the hybrid option. Front-wheel-drive is standard and all-wheel-drive is optional. Top fuel economy has been estimated at 33 mpg highway with the smallest four. The standard engine delivers 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway.

Car Frontal Protection With the Stylish Nudge Bars

Combine practicality with rugged style, the nudge bars, constructed in a lightweight polycarbonate or aluminum tubing, are designed to offer sufficient protection against minor front-end dings, bumps, and scratches. Generally fitted to small SUVs and sedans, these frontal bars also offer a convenient platform to mount several different accessories, such as the CB antenna and driving lights.

Nudge bars are the lightest form of front-end protection on the market at the moment, and available for a wide range of recreational and commercial vehicles, including those offered by the actual manufacturers or aftermarket companies of such models as Ford, Jeep, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Landrover, Honda, and Nissan. The alloy bars protect the radiator grille and surrounding areas without a need to replace or alter the bumper bar.

Once install on the front of a vehicle, the stylish bars provide extra protection for the more common accidents that might happen out in the country or in the town center. Due to other driver's lack of attention, damage to a vehicle can occur even if parked up. A nudge guard protects the front-end of a vehicle from a third parties poor judgment in times of reversing or parking up their vehicle, and this makes these bar so appealing.

If the use of a vehicle is restricted to town or recreational activities where the likelihood of striking animals, bumps, or serious impact is minimal, than the minimal protection of the alloy guards is often more than enough. Although, if requiring more than the minimal level of protection that the nudge guards offer, it might be worthwhile looking at the full bull bars

Bull bars (also referred to as roo bars) are second to none when it comes to protecting the front-end of a vehicle and its occupants in the event of collision with a sizable animal or similar. Available in welded steel tubing, these bullbars are also designed to accept a variety of accessories, such as winches, radio aerials, and spotlights.

If a regular driver in the countryside, where animal strikes can be a common occurrence, it often advised to invest in the time and expense to upgrade a vehicles design with full frontal protection to ensure the best possible protection in the event of a collision.

All in all, the frontal nudge bars provide a cost-effective solution to enhance and personalized the appearance of a SUV or sedan, whilst also giving a satisfactory level of frontal protection for city bumps and scrapes.

How to Maintain the Exhaust System of Your Vehicle

Every car owner wants their truck or car to run smoothly. Having great horsepower and getting the best from your engine is your dream so that the vehicle runs to full capacity. Well, if you have your engine tuned and a new exhaust installed, you have given your car some tender care. However, it is not enough, there is always more you can do.

Maintaining your car is your responsibility. Not only will it ensure that your car runs efficiently, it also saves you the cost of having to repair and install new accessories all the time. Here are some of the maintenance tips you can use for your vehicle.

Rusting starts from the inside of the pipes to the outside. This result from the moisture in the exhaust tubes which comes from the exhaust fumes that condenses in the tubes when the car is cooling off. Some aftermarket suppliers provide a chemical placed in the system to absorb moisture. It will help reduce rusting and you can always have the chemical replaced when it's saturated.

When driving, always ensure that you do not straddle paths and pavements to prevent your tips from collecting particles that could block the system. Driving over bumps should be slow and calculated to prevent your exhaust tips from being hit. They end up becoming loose and will eventually hang out. The rubbing of the system causes holes that lead to loss of power.

As you drive, always listen to any noises coming from under your car. Loud clatter noises indicate a hole in the system; some clog on the other hand will show that the muffler has too much soot that will interfere with performance.

When the inside of the muffler is clogged, most times it needs replacement. The outside on the other hand can be cleaned together with the tips. Use a dry cloth to wipe off the soot and dirt from the outside of the muffler. If there is too much grease, use a wet cloth with some soap then dry off the muffler completely. It may not shine completely but maintains a good look on the exterior of your car and prevent clogging.

Fasteners and hangers loosen up over time and need to be tightened once in a while. There are faults that you cannot detect by merely looking under the car. Get a professional inspect your car once a year. They can either tighten the system or advice you on replacement of the faulty parts of the system. In the option of replacement, contact suppliers like magnaflow for advice on the best accessories for your exhaust system.

Tips for Purchasing Jeep Parts and Accessories

When Jeeps were first developed their intended purpose was to be used as military vehicles because of their strength and durability. As more and more soldiers began coming home, Jeeps became more popular among civilians who discovered how functional and fun they could be. Since then, Jeeps have become a vehicle that is used for everything from carpooling to rock crawling. This has increased the demand for Jeep parts and accessories.

Jeep parts can range from replacement fan belts to specialty items such as lift kits. When purchasing parts for your vehicle, the first thing you should determine is what the primary use will be for your ride. If it is going to be an everyday vehicle then the parts and accessories will differ than those needed for off-roading purposes. What we are going to do is help you determine which parts would be best suited for your overall driving needs.

First we will discuss what type of accessories and after-market Jeep parts that will best suit your Jeep if its primary use will be off-road driving.

  • Tires - Tires used for off-roading are very different than those used for everyday driving. Choosing your tires for off-road driving should be determined by the type of terrain you will be driving on the most. For instance, mudding tires differ greatly than those used for rock crawling. There are some all-terrain tires available, but if you are going to be driving on one type of terrain it is recommended that you use tires designed for that purpose.
  • Lift Kits - Lift kits are a necessity for off-road driving. They are often the first Jeep accessory that drivers purchase. Lift kits are designed to provide a driver with the clearance needed to safely drive over obstacles that may be lying on the trail. It is primarily up to the driver how big they want to go, but to begin with simply choose a size that will provide you with the clearance you feel comfortable with.
  • Winches - Winches are usually on the top of any off-road driver's list of must have accessories. Winches are used to pull a Jeep free if it should become stuck on the trail. They range in sizes and can easily be installed. It is a good idea for anyone who plans to spend any time driving off-road purchase and install a winch on their Jeep. Many off-roading clubs will not allow membership unless you have a winch installed.

Now we will discuss which type of Jeep accessories and parts that are favored by city drivers.

  • Tops - If your Jeep is one that has a removable top you may be interested in purchasing a different style. There are many different styles of tops that can be purchased after-market ranging from soft tops to bikini tops. They are relatively easy to install and can be done by virtually anyone.
  • Doors - Many Jeep owners who live in warmer climates enjoy taking off their hard doors and replacing them with lighter soft doors or half doors. Doing this will affect the safety of your vehicle and should be thoroughly considered before installation.
  • Tires - As with off-roading, city driving presents its own set of obstacles. If you reside in an area that experiences snowy winters you should choose an all-weather tire. This will provide you with the added traction that snow driving may require. If you plan to use your Jeep as a primarily city vehicle but would like to take it off-road on occasion you may want to install an all-traction tire. This will provide you with traction for both city and off-road driving.

New Jeep accessories are always being created to enhance ones' driving experience from off roading to highway excursions. However the beauty of Jeep's is the broad accessibility of original stock parts so one can restore their vehicle to its original state. Regardless of what you use your Jeep for, rest assured, there is a part or accessory for that.
